I did that years ago. A professor of theology at a local university tells me that Deism is where intellectuals end up short of taking a leap of faith. I had thought that Deism WAS a leap of faith.

I once took a comparative religions course and the professor couldn't explain Taoism. Is it worship of ancestors or faith in quantum mechanics? I don't know and I don't care. The I CHING has given me countless hours of entertainment and introspection over the past five decades. While not being curious enough to research it, Deism seems closely related to Taoism and for those of us like Thomas Jefferson (who eliminated the magick and miracles from his LIFE AND MORALS OF JESUS OF NAZARETH) who are interested in living life fully and not counting on miraculous intervention for our self-created problems, Deism is a great alternative to the relentless superstition of Greek, Roman, and Egyptian myths - including those incorporated in the Jesus Cult.
